About Turning Points

The Turning Points program helps students facing challenges to build on their social and emotional capacity to cope more effectively and to make the choices and changes they need to. Students supported by families work together with staff to learn from their problems or behaviour, and the impact it is having on them. The focus for students and families will be gain an understanding and to establish personal goals and next steps for emotional, social and academic success.

Students admitted into the Turning Points program work in a self-contained classroom on their individual academic goals. They are support by the Turning Points teacher and support staff. In addition to the academic programming, students participate in small group social skills development, wellness activities, cognitive development, and the opportunity for one-on-one counseling provided by the program partner,Valoris.
