The first unit of this course will be to review content from grade 8 and to ensure that students have a solid foundation in order to move forward successfully in the course. 

Content that will be reviewd will be: 

• Operations with integers (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
• Order of operations (BEDMAS)
• Operations with fractions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
• Percents, decimals, ratios, and rates

Throughout the unit students will be encouraged to challenge their mathematical knowledge by not using a calculator for various assessments and homework assignments. By encouraging students to work on these mental techniques, it will help them gain confidence in their skills and allow them to be successful in the different areas of study.
